"Depart not from the path which fate has you assigned." - Unknown
People are always asking..."How did you find this place?" It was a fluke really - we had been looking for a new home or land to build on for over 2 years. This property was in a pile of print outs from our real estate agent - Morris? Where's Morris? We decided to look at the land for the first time back in 2002.It was the dead of winter, a thick blanket of snow on the ground and I remember walking the land with Scott since the real estate agent said she wasn’t up for the adventure. We paused to look out over the ravine down to the river and I spoke of this place as if unfamiliar to the everyday, like a place you wouldvisit but never live.My mind conjured up thoughts that we didn’t deserve something so wonderful and who did we think we were after all, this property was far over our budget.Scott remembers that it felt impossible to attain.A feat deserving of someone better than us or more deserving.
Many months later we still spoke of the land as if it were a distant dream, a vision we dreamt that actually existed but was too far out of reach. It had everything we wanted, it was alive! It had old trees and young trees, it had a ravine that led to a meandering river, it had an open meadow perfectly positioned for our home to reside. One day Scott simply said, “Let’s offer what we can afford”, what’s the worst that could happen? We did, they accepted and the rest is history.
